‘Lucky Bay’ is an artwork in the ‘Indian Summer’ collection. Like all paintings in this collection the inspiration comes from the long West Australian summer.

One of my favourite places to go on a family holiday is Esperance, in Western Australia. The coast there is just littered with amazingly beautiful beaches. And one of the most beautiful ones is Lucky Bay. Really fine, white sand. Large boulders lining the beach, and scattered in the sea. The most beautiful clear blue and turquoise water. And one of the best bits, frequently visiting kangaroos.
Lucky Bay is pretty close to heaven!

This painting is quite large, and would make an amazing statement piece.

This painting was painted using alcohol inks on Yupo paper. Impasto paste was used to add texture and depth.

Yupo paper is a special synthetic paper, developed specifically for art. It is non porous, making it very easy for the inks to flow freely. It doesn't absorb fluids, therefor it doesn't buckle. It is very thick, and hard to rip.

Alcohol inks are highly pigmented, alcohol based inks. They can be used like other media like oils, acrylics and watercolors. By layering the inks, and by using different techniques, the artist can create a feeling of depth and flow. The thing that is different about these inks is how unpredictable they are, and to what extend one can control them. Guiding the inks takes a certain level of skill, but also the ability to accept their unruliness. I think that’s why I love them so much!

It is finished with several layers of UV protection and varnish to help prevent fading.

I understand buying art online can be somewhat daunting, since you cannot see it up close and personal. To help make things easier I post as many pictures as I can, and try to make a video of each painting. I also offer appointments for people who are able to come by here in my home. If that is not a possibility I do collectors the opportunity to send an artwork back, if it turns out it doesn't quite fit in their home. Please see the terms and conditions here:
